FC Porto of Portugal returnee, Chidozie Awaziem fancies his chances of finally getting into the club’s mainframe this season, following a successful spell in the past season on loan at FC Nantes of France.
During his time playing under revered Italian gaffer, Claudio Raneiri at Nantes, Awaziem made 22 appearances in the French Ligue 1, with a goal to his name, hence expectations of a similar impact at Porto this time out.
Awaziem’s form with Nantes earned him a spot in the Super Eagles squad to Russia 2018 World Cup and, though he did not get to play any match at the global soccer showpiece, his value has shot up.
Consequently, Porto have offered him a contract extension, which his representatives are currently studying, with a view towards sealing a prominent career in Oporto.
Awaziem has now linked up with Portro’s main team in preseason training, after the head coach, Sergio Conceicao confirmed that the stopper is in his plans for next season.
This was after Awaziem returned to Portugal over the past weekend and reported for pre-season training on Tuesday morning.
