Royal Excel Mouscron of Belgium striker, Taiwo Awoniyi scored twice for his side, in their 4-3 defeat to Standard Liege at Stade Maurice Dufrasne (Liège) in the Belgian First Division A.
The former youth international, who is on loan from Liverpool, pulled the visitors level after 19 minutes, sending a right-footed shot into the bottom corner.
Awoniyi made hay after picking off a pass from Nathan De Medina after Christian Luyindama’s header had put Standard Liege in front in the 8th minute.
The hosts went back in front after the intermission through Sébastien Pocognoli who struck in a left-footed effort after getting onto the end of Duje Cop’s assist to make it 2-1.
The 20-year old Nigerian then took centre stage from there on, setting up Dorin Rotariu five minutes after the hour mark to restore parity before completing the momentary comeback.
That came with another brilliant goal of his own, racing onto an Omar Govea’s through ball before blasting into the back of the net.
However, Awoniyi and his pals held firm, to eke out a dramatic, nerve-biting victory in the seven-goal thriller on Sunday evening.
