Brighton Hove Albion of England defender, Leon Aderemi Balogun has pushed aside regrets over his inability to star for the Super Eagles in Tuesday’s international friendly against Uganda, as he says he is just happy being part of the squad that made Nigerians happy on Saturday.
Footballliive.ng reports that Balogun is thrilled that by ‘just chasing a ball’ he has been able to contribute in bringing joy to the hearts of several Nigerians by helping the Eagles return to the Africa Cup of Nations.
The Germany-born stopper, who starred for Fotuna Dusseldorf, SV Damstardt and SV Mainz in the country of his birth before moving to England, said the joy of going to AFCON 2019 outweights any other expectation for now, including Tuesday’s friendly in Asaba.
Balogun also praised his Eagles’ teammates and declared that he is proud of them all for bringing joy to millions of Nigerians with their battling efforts that got a draw against South Africa on Saturday and nicked the AFCON 2019 ticket with a game to spare.
He posted on social media: “We made it – AFCON 2019! South Africa really tried, but we’re The Super Eagles.
“I’m really happy and proud to be part of this team that brings joy to so many Nigerians by “just chasing a ball.”
“Not just back home but all over the world! Thanks for the amazing support, love always.”
