The Confederation of African Football, CAF has released the seeding pots for the group stage of the CAF Confederation Cup, with Nigerian champions Enyimba International securing a spot in Pot 3.
Enyimba, known as the People’s Elephant, is among the 16 teams to advance to the group stage of the competition.
They share Pot 3 with AS Jaraaf, CS Constantine, Bravos do Maquis, Lunda Suliat, Orapa United, Black Bulls, and Stellenbosch FC.
Pot 1 features heavyweights such as Zamalek, RS Berkane, Simba SC, and USM Alger.
Meanwhile, Pot 2 includes ASEC Mimosa, Stade Malien, Al Masry, and CS Sfaxien.
Following their dramatic progression, Enyimba’s coach, Olanrewaju Yemi, admitted that luck played a significant role in their qualification.
The Nigerian side secured their spot after a tense 3-2 penalty shootout victory over Burkina Faso’s Etoile Filante at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo on Sunday.
“I wish we could have ended the game before the penalities considering the chances we missed. We are lucky to escape and we can’t go the next stage like this,” Olanrewaju stated in an interview with the club’s media team.
