CAF Offers Consolation to Super Eagles’ Nwabali Following AFCON Final Defeat

Date:

In the aftermath of Nigeria’s 2-1 defeat to Ivory Coast in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) final, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) offered solace to Super Eagles goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali.

Nwabali, who had showcased impressive performances throughout AFCON, fell short in leading Jose Peseiro’s squad to victory against Ivory Coast. The Chippa United shot-stopper conceded two goals as Ivory Coast claimed their third AFCON trophy, overshadowing William Troost-Ekong’s earlier goal.

In a post-game tweet on X, CAF consoled Nwabali, reminding him that while the competition might have concluded, his football journey continues.
