Once enterprising goalkeeper, Chijioke Ejiogu has completed a return to Heartland of Owerri, and has already starred for them in the South East/South South Pre-season Competition in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State.
Arugo Monkey’ kept a clean sheet to help The Naze Millionaires get a goalless draw on the opening day of the competition this past Sunday, footballlive.ng gathered.
Born November 22, 1984 in Imo State, Ejiogu began his career at local non-league side, FC Arugo, owned by former Iwuayanwu Nationale general manager, Uche Ejimofor.
He later later played for Julius Berger FC of Lagos, Dolphins of Port Harcourt, Akwa United of Uyo and Enyimba of Aba.
However, his stint with Akwa United was mired in controversy, as he was alleged to have collected part payment of sign on fees and three months’ salary from The Promise Keepers, then returned to Dolphins.
In September 2008, Ejiogu left the Garden City team and moved on to Enyimba of Aba in search of a revival for his once booming career, but things never returned to the glory heights he used to enjoy.
