Club Brugge of Belgium’s Nigerian-born attacker, Arnaut Danjuma has admitted he is happy to take a step closer to an international future with Holland, as he has been invited for upcoming matches against Germany and Belgium.
It is a maiden senior call up for Danjuma, who has so far scored four goals in the league for the Belgian champions and the youngster is excited, though he is listed on the preliminary list for both matches next month.
Footballlive.ng reports further that Danjuma, who also has a brilliant debut in the UEFA Champions League, when he lined out against Borussia Dortmund this month, has already featured for Holland’s under-21 team.
Though the former PSV Eindhoven under-19 player earlier said he loves the Super Eagles and would seriously consider a call-up by Nigeria, he appears on his way to a future with Holland instead.
This comes after Danjuma interjected that he was also looking forward to playing for the Dutch senior national side.
That was after Danjuma got his under-21 debut for Holland, and quickly stated that he would love to progress through the ranks into Le Oranje.
Danjuma’s wish has come true, as he has been named in a squad of 31 players called up by the senior team’s coach, Ronald Koeman for the UEFA Nations League game against Germany on October 13 and friendly against Belgium on 16th of same month.
He earlier said: “The Dutch national team is my dream, but I also have the African culture in me.
“Who knows I may play for Nigeria, I would seriously think about it if they call me, but it would be a shame. Because I want to get to Oranje.”
