“Today is the first step of your greatest challenge, one which will help you win the hearts of all madridistas”, said Florentino Pérez.

The presidential box at the Santiago Bernabéu has hosted the presentation of Thibaut Courtois as a new Real Madrid player. After showing a video displaying some of the new Whites’ star’s finest moments, Florentino Pérez took to the microphone to welcome the Belgian goalkeeper to the club: “Today is yet another day when all of us madridistas can feel happy to have brought in wonderful player”.

“Today, Real Madrid can boast the arrival of one of the world’s best goalkeepers, if not the very best, and the winner of the Golden Glove at the World Cup in Russia. Everyone agrees on how crucial a role Courtois had to play in ensuring his national team clinched a historic third place finish, which resulted in him being named the tournament’s best goalkeeper”.

“Signing Courtois is in line with the club’s strategy to shape our present and our future with players capable of coping with the increasingly competitive international nature of this sport. He comes to Real Madrid at 26 years of age, but having already experienced huge success in European football”.

COURTOIS: “I WANT TO SHOW I CAN MATCH THE EXPECTATIONS THIS BADGE ENTAILS”.

“Dear Thibaut, from today you’ll be wearing the shirt of the club that has won 13 European Cups.. Your determination, commitment and fight to wear this shirt have brought you here. Today is the first step of perhaps your greatest challenge, one which will help you win the hearts of all madridistas. They will help you to feel happy alongside your family here, as will your teammates and everyone else at Real Madrid”.

“You know the city of Madrid is your home. Your heart is here in Madrid with your children, and from this moment on, the Santiago Bernabéu forms part of your family too. I hope you will be very happy with them, with your children Adriana and Nicolás. As of today, you are part of a club that does not know the meaning of the word impossible. Thank you for taking on this challenge at the most prestigious and demanding club in the world”.

Courtois: “Coming to the best club in the world is a responsibility and an honour”
“Today is a dream come true for me, you can’t imagine how happy I am. Coming to the best club in the world is a responsibility and an honour. I’d like to thank Real Madrid for the efforts they’ve made, and all the people who have contributed to bringing me to play here. I want to show I can match the expectations this badge entails”.
