The Super Eagles have gained a rare voice of support from the pop music scene, as one of the twin brothers in the highly successful hip-hop group, P-Square has charged Nigerians to stop scolding the players.
In spite of the Eagles’ opening 2-0 loss to Croatia on Saturday, Paul Nonso Okoye insists the players gave their best and need to be encouraged to do better in their next game, rather than receive condemnation from Nigerians.
Paul took to his Facebook account to blast Nigerian fans for calling the Eagles players ugly names after they lost their opening Russia 2018 World Cup match against Croatia.
Instead of scolding the players, Paul enthused that the Eagles can redeem their image and revive hope of reaching the knock out stage of Russia 2018 with victory against Iceland on Friday.
Though Iceland held tournament favourites, Argentina to a 1-1 draw in Group D’s opening match, Paul insists the Nordic Nation will lose against Nigeria.
“Nigeria lost to Croatia and all hell breaks loose but star players in Argentina could not beat Iceland, Germany could not beat Mexico, even almighty Brazil couldn’t even beat Switzerland.
“We Nigerians are the problem of this country, yes, nobody wants to be defeated but we should be encouraging the players and not abusing and cursing them all over social media.
“A typical Nigerian cannot even encourage you not to give up if you failed once. Nigerians would curse and abuse their players because we lost to Croatia,” Paul Okoye exclaimed.
