All talk about a full training session for the Super Eagles on Tuesday morning in Asaba, Delta State failed to materialise, as enough players had not arrived to accord the coaching crew adequate focus for the planned drills.
Officials went to town Monday afternoon with information that full training would commence behind closed doors the following morning, but footballllive.ng gathered that it was not to be.
The training session that was scheduled to begin at 10am did not hold because more than half of the invited players were yet to report to the camp as at that time, and matters had to be deferred till the evening.
Those in camp early Tuesday, who started proceedings with a work out in the gym late Monday, were Daniel Akpeyi, Ikechukwu Ezenwa, Mikel Ndubuisi Agu, Theophilus Afelokhai, Olamilekan Adeleye, Ola Aina, Semi Ajayi, Henry Onyekuru, Moses Simon, Jamilu Collins.
The team usually hold gym sessions in the mornings, but Eagles coach, Gernot Rohr opted to turn things round, as he wanted to preparations to commence in earnest, before they fly out at 5pm on Thursday.
After making forced alterations, though, Rohr hoped to have the full complement of his invited players for an evening training session on Tuesday, which was bound to be the squad’s first on grass in Asaba.
