Benfica of Portugal new arrival, Tyronne Ebuehi has reasoned that the Super Eagles will need massive support at home and abroad for them to overcome Croatia in their World Cup opener on Saturday.
The former ADO Den Haag of Holland defender further said that he is proud with his decision to play for Nigeria, as he has been welcomed with open arms since he switched nationality from The Netherlands.
He has warmed his way into the heart of Nigerian football fans in recent weeks after his impressive displays in high-profile friendly matches for the Super Eagles.
Ebuehi, who is optimistic about the chances of Nigeria at the tournament, clamoured for the unrelenting support of Nigerian fans both in Russia and back home, saying it would motivate the team to success.
“I am very proud of course, to be part of the team; it has always been my dream to play at the World Cup, so now that I’m here, I will just give my all and ensure the country comes out successful at the end.
“We know the fans expect so much from us back home after our not too impressive friendly games; though the world cup will be a difficult tournament for all teams, we just want to urge them to keep believing and supporting us all the way,” Ebuehi said.
