Edo Queens made an impressive entrance in the 2024 CAF Women’s Champions League, defeating Commercial Bank of Ethiopia (CBE) 3-0 to take an early lead in Group B.
The match, held at Casablanca’s Larbi Zaouli Stadium, crowned the Nigerian champions’ solid preparations and strategic player recruitment.
After securing victory, head coach Tosan Blankson hailed the club’s recruitment efforts, noting the effective assembly of their squad was from retaining key players when other teams struggled to do so.
“We are carrying a very good squad to this competition. After they won the league, their recruitment was very perfect… Whatever players they needed, they were already used to them.”
Blankson believes Edo Queens will represent Nigeria admirably in the competition.
“They are representing the country… Definitely, they will do well because they have a very balanced team.”
