Enyimba’s Oriental Derby Triumph Boosts Title Defense Hopes, Says Assistant Coach Ukaegbu

Enyimba assistant coach Lawrence Ukaegbu believes their recent 1-0 victory over Abia Warriors in the oriental derby will serve as a significant motivator in their quest to retain the NPFL title. The People’s Elephant secured a hard-fought win at the Umuahia Township Stadium on Sunday, thanks to Bernard Ovoke’s decisive goal.

In his post-match interview, Ukaegbu acknowledged the challenge posed by Abia Warriors but expressed satisfaction with the outcome. “I knew it was going to be a tough match,” he said. “The win gives me happiness because Abia Warriors proved a hard knot to crack.”

Ukaegbu highlighted the importance of this victory in their title defense. “Abia Warriors was one of the difficult fixtures we had in the remaining matches of the season, but the win gives us a clearer view of achieving our goals of defending the NPFL title.”

With this victory, Enyimba has moved up to second place on the NPFL table, amassing 56 points from 33 games, bolstering their chances of clinching the championship once again.
