KAA Gent of Belgium star, Anderson Esiti has eventually kissed out on a summer transfer to join Moses Simon at Levante of Spain, as the Liga club suddenly pulled out of a bid to sign the defensive midfielder.
In contrast with much vaunted speculation that Levante wanted to continue their recent Nigerian tradition, which began with Obafemi Akinwunmi Martins, the club opted out in their deal with Esiti in preference for another player to fill his role with the team.
Rather than complete a swoop for Esiti, few days after signing Simon from the same club in Belgium, Levante have opted instead for an agreement with Sporting Lisbon of Portugal to get Nikola Vukcevic for nine million Euro.
Levante had been initially prepared to pay three million Euros for Esiti, who joined Gent from Estoril of Portugal two years ago for 1.5 million Euros, but they have surprisingly gone for a costlier purchase.
This is in spite of reports that Esiti stayed away from a UEFA Europa League tie with Gent on Thursday night in Poland as transfer negotiations heightened between both clubs.
Last season Esiti played 26 games for Gent, in what was an injury hit season for him and so far he has played once the season, precisely in their 1-1 draw against Zulte-Waregem last weekend in the second round of games in the Belgium League.
The 24-year-old battler has been at Gent since his transfer from Estoril in 2016, after his European take-off at Leixoes of Portugal.
