Rivers United head coach Evans Ogenyi has praised his players for their performance despite suffering a 3-2 defeat against Lobi Stars.
The Pride of Rivers encountered a setback at the Lafia City Stadium on Wednesday, conceding goals from Samuel Tiza, Alao Danbani, and Suur Kumaga. However, Ukeme Williams and Mark Gibson managed to score for Rivers United, narrowing the gap.
In a post-match interview, Ogenyi expressed his belief that his team did not deserve to lose the game, emphasizing the positive football displayed by his players against Lobi Stars.
“The result doesn’t accurately reflect what occurred in the game,” Ogenyi stated. “I must commend my boys for demonstrating good football artistry against Lobi Stars.”
As a consequence of the defeat, Rivers United dropped to 16th position on the table.
