Former Lazio Attacker Applauds Simy’s Eagles Invitation

Date:

The inclusion of Crotone of Italy striker, Simeon Tochukwu Nwankwo (Simy) in Nigeria’s provisional list for the World Cup has attracted commendation from former SS Lazio attacker, Stephen Ayodele Makinwa.

So soon after popping to limelight with a spree of goals in the Serie A, ‘Simy’ has gained the opportunity of playing himself into the Super Eagles’ finalist to Russia 2018, much to the delight of his agent, Makinwa (aka Tiger of Lagos).

‘Simy’ has no previous national team call-up, which has left some critics questioning his appearance from the blue in the race to Russia, but Makinwa is now based in Rome, Italy, said the lad’s inclusion is justified.

Nwankwo has scored seven goals in Italian Serie A for Crotone this season as they need a win in their final league game against Napoli to avoid relegation.

He has gained remarkable breakthr0ough with Crotone, despite the club currently occupy the 18th position in the Italian Serie A table with 35 points from 37 games with one game left to play.

Makinwa, who played for Nigeria at the Africa Cup of Nations in 2006 and 2008, applauded Eagles coach, Gernot Rohr for naming ‘Simy’ as one of the two new players named in the 30-man provisional squad, and tagged it a right choice by the gaffer.
