Former youth international defender, Gbenga Arokoyo has joined the growing number of Nigerian players retracing their steps to former hunting grounds, as he has pulled off a new deal at FF Kalmar of Sweden.
It is a second stint for the Swedish top-flight club for Arokoyo, who played last season in Major League Soccer (MLS) with Portland Timbers, but has now signed a three-year contract with Kalmar.
The former Golden Eaglets and Flying Eagles star, who has one cap with the Super Eagles, got his career overseas underway in 2012in Sweden, with Mjalby AIF, and has also previously played in Turkey
He suffered a long-term injury when he moved to MLS side Portland Timbers and he was only recently transferred to Atlanta United.
He will have a compatriot at Kalmar, as the former club of Abiola Dauda recently announced the signing of another Nigeria defender, Chima Akas.
