Gbolahan Salami Goes Club Hunting Again

Date:

Former Shooting Stars of Ibadan and ex-Sunshine Stars of Akure striker, Gbolahan Fuad Salami is club hunting again, following his failure to reach an agreement with two clubs in Tunisia, Etoile du Sahel and Club Africain.

Information reaching footballlive.ng reveals that Salami, who had also played with Warri Wolves of Delta State before travelling abroad for greener pastures, looked set to seal a new deal after he was released by Denizlispor of Turkey.

However, he ended up returning to Nigeria empty handed from his trip to Tunisia, as he first fell out with Etoile, then stayed firm inn his financial demands from Club Africain, which the club insisted they could not meet.

Less than a month after joining Denizlispor in a year’s contract, the 27-year-old forward arrived in Tunisia on Saturday for a medical, but financial disagreements finally put a stop to his plans.

Now the door has been opened for another stop for Salami, who also had a short stint at Irtysh Pavlodar of Kazakhstan, where he scored four goals in 17 games before his contract was terminated, which enabled him to join Denizlispor as a free player.

His departure from the Turkish side less than a month into his stint was also partly due to money matters, as he was said to have been faced with several salary issues.

Unfortunately, Salami has only enjoyed a productive overseas spell at KuPS of Finland, where he made hay for three seasons.
