Changchun Yatai of China striker, Odion Jude Ighalo has hit new marks in the Chinese Super League, following his eighth goal of the season, in a feat that fetched an away win for his club.
In contrast with the struggles he faced in front of goal during the World Cup, Ighalo returned to familiar terrain in The Oriental Nation to seal a 2-1 win over Chongqing Lifan on Tuesday, as the season resumed with aplomb.
The home team took the lead through Seba in the sixth minute, but their advantage lasted only thirteen minutes, with Ighalo volleying the ball into the back of the net.
An own goal from Yongzhe Cui put Changchun Yatai ahead in the 54th minute, which eventually earned them, their fourth win of the season.
Ighalo had at least two chances to score in the second half, the goalkeeper parried his shot before Changchun Yatai grabbed their winner and his lob went wide on 71 minutes.
Nonetheless, the win boosts Changchun Yatai’s hopes of avoiding relegation as they now occupy 12 position in the 16 team table.
