Former Super Eagles striker Odion Ighalo was instrumental in Al Wehda’s Round of 32 victory over Al-Faisaly in the Kings Cup of Champions.
The 35-year-old striker came off the bench and scored the equalizer in regular time before converting his penalty in the shootout, helping Al Wehda secure a 4-2 victory on penalties after a 1-1 draw.
Ighalo entered the match at the start of the second half, and just moments later, Al-Faisaly took the lead in the 48th minute through Lucas Souza.
However, the Nigerian responded quickly, leveling the score just three minutes later with a well-placed right-footed strike from the center of the box.
With the game locked at 1-1 after 120 minutes, the contest went to penalties. Ighalo confidently stepped up to take Al Wehda’s first spot-kick and converted, setting the tone for his team’s 4-2 triumph in the shootout.
So far this season, Ighalo has netted two goals in five matches for Al Wehda.
