Changchun Yatai of China striker, Odion Jude Ighalo has given thanks to his teammates for helping him set a new personal goals record in a single season, footballlive.ng reports.
After netting his 21st goal of the campaign in the Chinese Super League last weekend, Ighalo said it would not have been possible had he not gained immense support from his pals, who he thanked for supporting him to achieve his ambitions with the club.
Incidentally, Ighalo is now the substantive captain of the team, and the Super Eagles star says he is happy with the opportunity he has to lead by example, as he aims to take Yatai higher on the CSL table.
Ighalo also cited consistent hard work on and off the pitch for his latest run of stunning goals form, as he has hit eight in his last four games for club and country.
With three games to end the ongoing season, Ighalo is two goals behind the league’s current top scorer, who has 23 goals, but the former Lyn Oslo, Udinese, Granada and Watford star is happy with his tally so far.
Ighalo said: “I’m happy with my form but the whole team deserves the praise because without them it won’t be possible.”
