Changchun Yatai of China striker, Odion Jude Ighalo has been named best player for the month of April in the Chinese Super League, following his stunning rush of goals with his club.
The report out of The Oriental Nation reveals that Ighalo goes home with the monthly top prize after scoring six goals in April.
Overall, Ighalo has romped home seven goals in 10 league games this season and should again feature for Yatai when they host Beijing Guoan in Saturday’s CSL clash.
He celebrated his April award by retweeting his official fans congratulatory message via @judeighalofans on Wednesday.
“Best Player Of The Month Of April!!! Congratulations Odion Ighalo!!!!!!,” reads Ighalo’s tweet, while posing with the award.
Ighalo also expressed his joy in making Nigeria’s 30-man provisional World Cup list, saying that he will give his best to ensure the country is well represented at the Mundial.
The Yatai goal poacher, who said he is glad to be on the verge of his maiden World Cup, added that the players invited have all it takes to bring glory the country in Russia, where he believes Nigeria will achieve another part of history.
“I’m happy and privileged to be on the list and I promise to give my best. Honestly, it’s every player’s joy to be at the World Cup, so I believe my time is now and I will gracefully take the opportunity and represent the country with all I have got.
“The calibre of players we have right now know what it takes to succeed at the biggest stage so I’m very confident with those invited because the bulk of the squad were the guys that played the qualifiers even though so few are missing. I am confident the team will do well at the World Cup,” Ighalo concluded.
