Arsenal attacker, Alex Iwobi might have received a strong push to start against Tottenham Hotspur in Saturday’;s feisty London derby, as two of his teammates, Sead Kolasinac and Nacho Monreal says they feel safer with him on the pitch.
Although many pundits have tipped Iwobi for a long spell on the bench, following the arrival of Denis Suarez and return to form by Mesut Ozil, footballive.ng gathered that Monreal and Kolasinac are still rooting for the Super Eagles star.
This much has been confirmed by The Gunners’ boss, Unai Emery, who says Monreal and Kolasinac want him to pick Iwobi every week into the starting line-up, because of what he adds to the squad during matches.
Indeed, Iwobi showed another side of his immense talent in midweek, when he got off the bench against Bournemouth and inspired Arsenal to a remarkable 5-1 trouncing on The Cherries.
Heading into Saturday’s early kick-off away to Spurs at Wembley, all odds are now on Emery to turn the table round full circle by putting the Eagles’ playmaker-cum-winger on from the start.
Emery disclosed: “When I ask Nacho Monreal and Sead Kolasinac who is the player who you feel better when he is playing, they say Iwobi.
“It is because Iwobi can open space on the overlap for them. So I think Iwobi is giving a lot for us.”
