Arsenal attacker, Alex Iwobi has received words of commendation from his club, following another outing with the Super Eagles on Tuesday, in an international freidnly against Uganda, footballlive.ng reports.
While many Nigerian football fans are wont to believe that Iwobi had another bad game, as he did last Saturday against South Africa, The Gunners have reeled out superlatives in support of their former under-21 team captain, who they celebrated for being a national team regular.
The verdict out of Emirates Stadium, London is that Iwobi deserves to be commended for his battling efforts and ability to hold his own in two top national team matches within the spate of three days.
Arsenal noted that Iwobi was on from the start in the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Bafana Bafana at FNB Stadium, then returned home to play as a substitute in Tuesday’s friendly that ended goalless at Stephen Keshi Stadium, Asaba.
Based on Iwobi’s exertions in both matches, Arsenal praised him for his energy, stamina and physical conditioning, which they believe will come to bear in this weekend’s English Premier League tie with Bournemouth.
The Gunners will be away to Jordon Ibe’s side on Sunday, and Iwobi has been tipped to replicate the recent top form he displayed with the club before travelling to Nigeria for last weekend’s international break.
