Torino of Italy midfielder, Joel Chukwuma Obi is back in contention for regular action heading into the World Cup, after returning to his club’s match day squad over the past weekend.
Obi would now fancy his chances of being part of the Super Eagles’ squad to Russia 2018, as his return from injury was somewhat confirmed by his appearance on his club’s bench.
The former Inter Milan and AC Parma dazzler has missed Torino’s last three league games due to injury, but he was on the bench in their 2-1 win against SPAL in a Serie A fixture on Sunday.
The former Inter Milan player last featured for Torino in their 1-1 draw against AC Milan on April 18 as a 57th minute for Tomas Rincon.
Obi has featured in 22 league games for Torino this season and has scored five goals, but he was left on the bench, as Torino rallied back from a goal down to win the game.
Alberto Grassi put SPAL ahead in the 22nd minute, and Obi watched on with glee, as Torino scored two goals through Andrea Belotti and Lorenzo Silvestri.
