Former Heartland of Owerri defender, Kalu Orji has thrown his arms open to welcome last season’s top scorer in the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL), Anthony Okpotu to Morocco, following the ex-Lobi Stars of Makurdi striker’s unveiling by Difaa El Jadidi on Friday.
Though both former home-based Eagles stars will be opponents during the league, as Orji plays for Moloudia Club d’Oujda and Okpotu signed for El Jadidi this week, the defender says it is good to see more Nigerians arriving in Morocco.
Orji, who also previously starred for Rangers International of Enugu declared with glee: “I am happy for Tony Okpotu to also move to Morocco. We are teammates in the national team, but we will be battling against each other as soon as the season commences.
“Babatunde Michael has also returned to Morocco and that shows that the league in Morocco is growing as they have good facilities, structures and contracts for the players. It is exciting.
“I am in Morocco to make an impact. The expectations are high and I wish to help my new club win laurels, and the atmosphere around the team is good from the few days I have been here.”
