Kanu Celebrates Iwobi’s New Arsenal Contract

Date:

Arsenal attacker, Alex Iwobi has received words of felicitation from one of the London side’s legends, as former Super Eagles captain, Nwankwo Kanu has sent a congratulatory message to his compatriot over his recent new contract with the club.

Iwobi made an impact in Arsenal’s latest preseason game against SS Lazio of Italy last weekend, as he got an assist for Reiss Nelson in The Gunner’s 2-0 win in Stockholm.

Arsenal made the breakthrough in the 18th minute, and it came from smart work from Iwobi, who worked space on the left before striking against the post, and Nelson was on hand to turn home.

Nelson netted a first-half rebound after Iwobi’s low strike hit the base of the post, and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang then went on at the break and scored with a precise finish.

Arsenal are next in action on the opening weekend of the new English Premier League season, when they take on defending champions Manchester City, with Iwobi hoping to hit the ground running.

Following confirmation of Iwobi’s new four-year contract with The Gunners, Kanu stated that he is happy to see the youngster making progress at Emirates Stadium and declared that he is wishing the lad more days of glory ahead.

Kanu took to social media to reveal his delight for the nephew of another former Eagles’ captain, Austin Okocha, and hinted that Iwobi can reach even higher ground than they did with more hard work.

Papilo wrote: “Congratulations @alexanderiwobi We wish you higher success at @arsenal Hard work pays. #coyg #congrats #premiership #nigeria #arsenal #thankgod @Arsenal.”
