Ndidi Gloats Over Leicester’s Pre-season Top Form

Date:

Leicester City of England midfielder, Wilfred Onyinyen Ndidi has expressed relish with his club’s form in preseason, as he believes their recent run of victories has put them in the right from of mind before battling Manchester United on Friday.

Heading into their English Premier League opener against The Red Devils, Ndidi and his pals got a 2-1 victory over Lille Metropole of France in a tough friendly on Saturday, and the former Racing Genk of Belgium star believes the win has boosted their confidence.

Leicester were undefeated in their last two friendlies, against Valencia and Lille, ahead of Friday’s trip to Manchester United, heading into which Ndidi also admitted he was amazed that his Nigerian club mate, Kelechi Iheanacho scored with his head on Saturday.

Iheanacho ended pre-season with four goals in three games, after netting a brace against Lille, and Ndidi says it was all part of the reflection of a great team spirit into the EPL tie.

Ndidi confessed: “I was surprised he scored with the head because; we practiced just me and him, just playing and then try to practice. It was good.

”He is getting there because we work every day in training. In the previous games also, he was good, he scored in those games for the confidence.

“I hope he takes the confidence to the next game, not just him but all the players. That’s the idea of the pre-season games.

”Honestly, it was very good because in the first minute of the game we tried to manage the game but it was very difficult.

”It was good because of the international players we didn’t get to play too much but the coach tried to manage the players, giving everyone minutes and I feel like we are getting there.

”These games will give us the confidence to go to the next one so we try to manage that kind of situation in the first minute and we’ll try to make it happen in the next game.

”Not just the confidence, match fitness and trying to play together. So, the game as a whole was very, very challenging and it was a good game for us going into the next one.”
