Katsina United off on break

Date:

Katsina United, who ended the just-concluded 2017/2018 in seventh position and lost in the semifinal of the Aiteo Cup, will begin a three-week break.

Katsina United returned back to base from Lagos on Saturday after they lost out on penalties to Northwest rivals Kano Pillars in the Aiteo Cup.

Coach Abdullahi Usman Biffo, who addressed the team during a brief meeting at the club house in Katsina on Saturday, appreciated the doggedness of the players this season before he declared a three-week break.

“I wish to first of all appreciate your efforts and grit to have given Katsina State a bountiful representation in the league and AITEO Cup,” Biffo said.

“You have not just done well for the team, you have also done yourself a good favour with what you have accomplished this season.

“This is just our second season in the Nigeria elite league (NPFL) and we have been able to reach the semi finals of the FA Cup (Aiteo Cup), at the same time finished the league in seventh position.

“This is really a great achievement and hopefully we will do better next season.

“We will now allow you to go back home and rejoice with family and love ones back at home.

“We hereby declare a three-week break which will start as from Monday, 15th October, 2018 and to resume Sunday, 4th November, 2018.

Katsina United failed to advance to the finals of this year’s Aiteo Cup which will go down at Stephen Keshi Stadium in Asaba, after they lost out on penalty shootout to Kano Pillars at the Agege Stadium in Lagos.
