Katsina United’s First Goal Excites Sherif Bashir

Date:

New arrival at Katsina United, Sherif Bashir is relishing his first goal for the club, as he hit home a match winner on Wednesday against Wikki Tourists of Bauchi, and noted that it came on the same day the team’s coach, Abdullahi Biffo was released by kidnappers.

Bashir got off the bench to score a late winner at Muhammadu Dikko Stadium in Katsina and dedicated it to the coach that took him to the club, Biffo, who gained freedom after he was abducted for two weeks.

Bashir also promised to give his best and help The Changi Boys do well in the new-look Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) this season.

The youngster admitted that his goal was dramatic in many dimensions, but said the most important thing for him was that he was able to score Katsina United’s first goal of the season.

Bashir stated: “The goal is an amazing one for me; for the fact that Coach Abdullahi Biffo brought me to Katsina United and on the day I scored was the day  he was released.

“I dedicate my goal to my coach. I pray for his sound health and I pray for him to recover from the trauma as well.

“I am so excited I got the only goal of the match, it remains very precious to me because it is my first goal for Katsina United.

“I just joined the club not long ago and I scored the first goal of the new season for Katsina United, it’s a thing of joy. It’s a memory I won’t forget.

“It is was very tough match as Wikki Tourists gave us a good fight, but we were able  to pick the three points.”
