Malaga of Spain new signing, Aide Brown Ideye has issued a strong declaration that the club will escape relegation from La Liga, as he believes the spirit of determination rolling through their camp will spur them up the table in the coming weeks.
Ideye, who arrived on deadline day to join fellow-Nigerian striker, Isaac Success in the task of helping Malaga escape the drop, admitted they have a huge task on their feet, but believes it would become possible through hard by all.
Malaga are currently 20th on the log with 13 points from 23 games and will need to start winning soon if they are to remain in the top flight next season.
However, after firing blanks in his first two games for the Liga strugglers, Ideye said he is on track to regain his scoring form, and believes he has what it takes to fire Malaga out of the drop zone.
Ideye, who played his second game and could not stop his side from losing 1-0 again over the past weekend against Athletico Madrid, said Malaga’s lack of goals is due to inadequate supply from the creative midfield.
The former Ocean Boys of Brass, Neuchâtel Xamax of Switzerland, Sochaux of France, Dynamo Kiev of Ukraine, West Bromwcih Albion of England, Olympiakos of Greece and Tianjin Teda of China star, however, said they will keep battling hard to escape the drop.
Ideye stressed that he is confident his side can beat the drop zone despite being on the foot of the table with only 13 points.
“It’s unfortunate the situation we find ourselves in right now, but with hard work on and off the pitch, I believe we can survive relegation, it will be difficult but also very possible
“It’s been difficult to get the goals because we don’t have a creative midfielder who can give a goal pass, but I’m confident we can overcome these challenges in our next games and the goals will start coming,” Ideye added.
