Manchester City have announced a record breaking 10-year contract extension with global sportswear giant Puma, a partnership now set to run until 2035 and worth a staggering £1 billion ($1.3 billion), according to sources.
The agreement, revealed on Tuesday, marks the most lucrative kit manufacturer deal in English football, overtaking Manchester United’s £900 million deal with adidas signed in 2023.
According to reports, City will earn £100 million per year under the new terms, a significant rise from the £65 million they previously received annually since partnering with Puma in 2019.
“We’ve Achieved This and More” — Manchester City CEO
City Football Group (CFG) CEO Ferran Soriano hailed the renewal as a huge achievement in the club’s ambitions to dominate both on and off the pitch.
“We joined forces with Puma with the ambition to challenge ourselves and go beyond expectations,” Soriano said.
“We have achieved this and more over the last six seasons. Puma have seamlessly integrated into our organisation, and we’ve enjoyed many historic moments together, engaging fans globally.”
“Today’s renewal and extension solidifies our relationship and projects it to an even brighter future.”
Puma & City’s Golden Era
Since switching from Nike to Puma in 2019, Manchester City have enjoyed a golden period, winning six Premier League titles, along with a historic treble in 2023, which included the
- UEFA Champions League,
- Premier League, and
- FA Cup.
Puma has also extended its reach across the CFG portfolio, supplying kits to clubs such as:
-
Melbourne City (Australia)
-
Girona (Spain)
-
Palermo (Italy)
-
Mumbai City (India)
What the Deal Entails
The financial and branding impact of this deal is massive:
-
Record-setting £100m/year kit agreement for a UK club
-
Cementing Puma’s role as a key brand in elite football
-
Further integration with CFG’s global football vision
This deal puts Manchester City at the very top of commercial revenue charts when it comes to kit sponsorships.
On the Pitch: City’s Upcoming Plans
Manchester City will next be in action on August 9, in a pre-season friendly against fellow CFG side Palermo, the same club now benefitting from Puma’s global branding strategy.
City were knocked out of the Club World Cup at the round-of-16 stage by Saudi Arabian side Al Hilal, a rare blip in their recent dominant run.
Manchester City Welcomes Back Kolo Touré
In a separate announcement, City confirmed the addition of former defender Kolo Touré to Pep Guardiola’s permanent backroom staff.
Touré, who had previously served as assistant manager during the Club World Cup campaign, now joins full-time.
The 43-year-old Ivorian, a key part of City’s early title-challenging squads under Roberto Mancini, brings both familiarity and tactical insight to Guardiola’s coaching team.
