Mikel Agu Heads Back To FC Porto

Date:

Burssaspor of Turkey midfielder, Mikel Ndubuisi Agu is in line for a return to FC Porto of Portugal, after Turkish Super Lig side he played for this season turned down the option of turning his loan spell into a permanent deal.

Agu started the season very well for Bursaspor but since returning from injury which sidelined him for two months, the 23-year-old has failed to match form that saw him earn a nomination in the Turkish Lig team of the week in the first stanza.

Agu has been playing on loan at Bursaspor from FC Porto of Portugal, but the club, who also have fellow-Super Eagles stars, William Troost-Ekong and Shehu Abdullahi in their ranks, have opted against keeping the midfielder, who will now look out for another club.

On his arrival from Porto, Agu had been a regular starter for Bursaspor, but his fortunes changed with the departure of the manager that took him to the club, Paul Le Guen.

The 24-year-old Agu, who has also played for Vitoria Setubal of Portugal and Club Brugge of Belgium, has four international caps for Nigeria.

He has made 23 appearances for Bursaspor this season and has scored thrice, but was an unused substitute in their last three games.

That could be due to the fact that Bursaspor will not renew his contract, alongside six others – Ricardo Faty, Cristobal Jorquera, Pablo Batalla, Moussa Sow, Emmanuel Badu and Gheorghe Grozav.
