Mikel Obi missing in Tianjin Teda’s away draw. Teda still deep in relegation waters.

Date:

Super Eagles captain John Mikel Obi was unlisted in Tianjin Teda’s 1 – 1 away draw at Chongqing Lifan in the Chinese Super League on Saturday.

The midfielder featured in Teda’s 4 – 2 loss at home to Shanghai Shenhua a week ago scoring the team’s first goal in the 22nd minute of the match.

Chongqing Lifan’s striker Fernando Conciecao scored the opener for the home side in the 36th minute before Teda’s Jonathan Aparecido Da Silva equaled the game in the 40th minute.

Chongqing Lifan is currently placed 14th in the 16 team league table with 28 points after 27 games while Tianjin Teda is heavily in the relegation zone on position number 15 with a total of 28 points.

Obi who recently returned from injury was also not invited to the Super Eagles squad to play the Bafana Bafana of South Africa in Johannesburg on November 17 in an AFCON qualifier and a friendly against the Cranes of Uganda three days later in Asaba in an international friendly.
