Mikel added that the players are fully committed and united than ever to give their all for the nation when they file out against debutants Iceland in their second Group D match.

The former Chelsea midfielder further urged Nigerians back home not to give up on the team, as they are still committed to the World Cup and assured of their readiness to give a different approach to the game against Iceland.

Mikel said: “The game against Croatia was a disappointing one for all of us because we did not play to our full potential; we have spoken as a team and we have learnt from our mistakes and will correct them in our next game.

“The game against Iceland will be a much more difficult game because they will be more relaxed after their draw against Argentina. They showed the world that they can be giant killers and we must approach them with all seriousness and go for all three points.
