Ndidi: Everybody Loves Me At Leicester

Date:

Leicester City of England midfielder, Wilfred Onyinyen Ndidi has revealed another major reason behind his decision to accept a new six-year contract with The Foxes, as he says everybody at the club loves him.

The former Racing Genk of Belgium star added that he has no qualms about committing his future to Leicester, since he has a sense of belonging and responsibility at Leicester, where he feels honoured and respected by the club’s top shots, players and fans.

Ndidi, who also disclosed that playing against top stars like Lionel Messi and Luka Modric at the World Cup in Russia gave him valuable experience, said he now aims to get an even better season with Leicester.

The former central defender recovered in time from a hamstring complaint to play a key role for the Super Eagles at Russia 2018, where he says the exposure he got was second to none and he wants to use it in helping his club to excel in the English Premier League.

Before going to the Mundial, Ndidi’s was one of Leicester’s standout performers last term, during which he completed 138 tackles in England’s top flight during his first full season, after arriving halfway through the previous campaign in January 2017.

After signing a new long term deal at King Power Stadium on Monday, Ndidi said the cordial atmosphere at Leicester City made his decision to pen an extension very easy.

The new deal extends Ndidi’s stay till 2024 and he says the big target for him is beyond personal records, as he wants the team to excel and qualifying for Europe is top priority.

He added that Leicester City has been amazing because the club has offered him the right atmosphere to develop and grow into one of the best defensive midfielders in the world.

Ndidi added: “I think because of my teammates, everyone is pushing and everyone is encouraging each other.

“I’m so happy and comfortable with everyone- the coaches, the players, the staff and the people working here. I’m very happy because everyone is friendly.

“As well as playing football, you can also learn a lifestyle outside of football. I’m happy I’m growing here and I’m really looking forward to the future.

“For me, I will say it’s not just me, it’s the players. A man cannot make a team; I think the team makes a player.

“The ultimate aim is to help City mount another European challenge in the near future but I always take things as they come and take it one step at a time.

“I don’t like thinking about what will happen in the future. I would say it starts now and I just want us to start winning games and progressing to get as many points as we can.

‘’There is nothing like growing, so learning from all those things will make me grow. I’ll just keep pushing and give everything and look forward to the games

“I feel welcome here because everyone is friendly. I’m in a place where people love me, encourage me and try to push me. I am so happy I’ve done this.

‘’The World Cup was an amazing experience and you see different kinds of players. You see players you see on TV and players from Real Madrid.

‘’I would say I learned some things from these players. I’m playing against them and you know what they do, they think very fast.’’
