Ndidi Scores As Leicester Edge Closer To Promotion

In an enthralling Championship clash at the King Power Stadium, Leicester emerged victorious with a hard-fought 2-1 win over West Bromwich Albion, extending their lead at the top of the table and edging closer to promotion.

 

The match started in electrifying fashion as Leicester took the lead in the 22nd minute. Wilfred Ndidi capitalized on a rebound after the West Brom goalkeeper failed to gather a cross, slotting the ball home to give the hosts an early advantage and ignite the crowd’s spirits. The Nigerian’s fifth of the season

 

Leicester had an opportunity to double their lead just before halftime when they were awarded a penalty. However, Jamie Vardy’s effort struck the woodwork, denying Leicester the chance to extend their lead before the break.

 

Undeterred by the missed penalty, Leicester continued to press forward in the second half, and their persistence paid off in the 65th minute. Jamie Vardy redeemed himself by finding the back of the net, courtesy of an assist from AbdulFattawu Ishaku, to give Leicester a 2-0 lead and put them in a commanding position.

 

However, West Brom fought back valiantly and managed to pull one back in the 76th minute. Jed Wallace capitalized on an assist from Cedric Kipre to reduce the deficit to 2-1, setting up a nervy finish to the game.

 

Despite West Brom’s late surge, Leicester held on to secure all three points and maintain their position at the top of the Championship table. With 91 points from 43 games, Leicester continues to lead the race for promotion. Meanwhile, West Brom sits in 5th place with 72 points from 44 games played, still in contention for a playoff spot.
