Joseph Ononja has praised Gombe United’s performance during their 1-1 draw with Heartland at the Okigwe Township Stadium on Thursday.
The two sides shared the spoils in the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) week nine encounter.
Chidiebere Ajoku saw his opener cancelled out by Chigozie Maurice from the penalty spot at injury time.
“What a team performance. The work rate and the attitude was great. We went 1-0 down and came back,” Onoja told Footballlive.ng.
“We showed a lot of character. Maurice Chigozie deserved his goal just for his work-rate alone.
“We showed confidence and played some good football on the ball. We have what it takes to earn more points as the season goes on.”
The Savannah Scorpions now sit 10th in the NPFL Group B table with nine points from their opening eight games.
