The final of the 2018 Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Super-4 will hold Sunday at Agege Stadium, Lagos, following Friday’s start to the contest at same venue, footballlive.ng reports.
NWFL officials said time constraint occasioned the resolve to have the matches hold on straight knock-out format, in contrast to last season, when the competition in Benin City, Edo State took a round-robin format that was won by Nasarawa Amazons of Lafia.
Nasarawa Amazons are this year joined by Bayelsa Queens of Yenagoa, Rivers Angels of Port Harcourt and Sunshine Queen of Akure in the ties, which will decide the winner of the 2017/2018 NWFL season.
The Owena Babes from Akure are considered outsiders, as they are the only new team among the sides that competed in the last edition of the competition in Benin City, Edo State.
Thursday was set aside for the arrival of teams and pre-match meeting at 6pm, while Friday witnessed Bayelsa Queens versus Sunshine Queens at 2pm and Nasarawa Amazons against Rivers Angels at 4pm.
While Saturday is rest day, Sunday will be very busy with the third place match at 2pm and final scheduled to kick-off 4pm, all at the arena that is now style Temple of Soccer.
