Akwa United central defender Dennis Nya said he was struggling to come up with explanations for his team’s ouster to Enugu Rangers in the Aiteo Cup quarterfinal.
The Flying Antelopes qualified at the expense of the Promise Keepers with a 4-2 penalty shootouts triumph after the match was tied 1-1 at the end of 90 minutes.
Godwin Aguda converted the winning spot kick after Michael Ibe and Jamiu Alimi had missed for the Uyo based outfit, and Nya was at a loss to find the reasons why.
“At some point you have to look at why a team does not sometimes get what it deserves and it’s something I can’t explain,” the defender told Footballlive.ng.
“Defeats always get you down but when they are undeserved it is even sadder.
“Overall we made plenty of goal opportunities and had a lot of the ball but these excuses, when compared with the result, lose their worth.
