The on going Higher Institution Football league (HIFL) has over the past couple of weeks produced moments of brilliance that has taken our breaths away, from the goals to the elimination of big sides as far as University football is concerned.
One name that strikes fear into the heart of defenders in the HIFL is no other but Benue state University of Agriculture’s Odenigbo Ebuka.
The 400Level department of Animal Nutrition student announced his arrival on the big stage when his four goals over two legs played a vital role in eliminating University of Maiduguri from the HIFL.
Speaking to futbaloven the young attacker attributed his goal scoring feat to the collective efforts of his team mates and he believe that this will definitely not be the last that he will be heard of.
“Well it has been a very good tournament for me on a personal level and will want to go as far as to win the championship in Lagos”.
Having gotten a first leg drew in the quarter final fixture against University of Jos also know as the UniJosHighlanders the strike seems quite optimistic of securing a semi final berth at home against the Jos side.
“We would have won in Jos if not for the poor state of their pitch we would have left Jos with a win but we felt undone by the state of their football pitch”.
Knowing fully well that if the University of Agric Makurdi popularly known as the UAM Tillers wins the reverse fixture in Makurdi and Unilorinwarriors avoids defeat in Ilorin then we will have to see a repeat of the 2017 NUGA final.
“We are not even looking at UniJosHighlanders because we are already in the semi final not minding who we will play in that fixture because our sight is set on representing the the country in Italy and no team, not even University of Ilorin has what it takes to stop us”.
The soft spoken player went on to show his appreciation to the organizers of the HIFL, Pace sports marketing and entertainment which is been sponsored by the Stanbic IBTC bank.
“I want to personally thank the brain behind the HIFL because this has created a platform where sports and education flows in together, hopefully the momentum will be sustainable, he concluded”.
University of Agriculture Makurdi will host University of Jos at the UAM sports complex and the winner of the tie will advance to the semi final of the ongoing HIFL where they will play the winner between University of Ilorin and Usman Danfodio University Sokoto.
