Hapoel Be’er Sheva of Israel midfielder, John Ugochukwu Ogu has declared ahead of his arrival at the Super Eagles’ camp that he and his national team qualifiers will target six points from their upcoming Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Libya.
Nigeria will host Libya next Saturday, October 13 in Uyo, after which they play away in the reverse fixture on Tuesday, October 16, but Ogu says they will seek to win both matches.
The towering, left-footed midfield battler, fondly called ‘Suker’ by his pals, is eagerly looking forward to playing both matches, but footgballlive.ng learnt he is willing to follow whatever choices the coaches make.
Consequently, the 30-year-old Ogu, who made his debut for the Eagles against Kenya in a 2014 World Cup qualifier on March 23, 2013, is of a view that any player selected to don the green-and-white in Uyo and Sfax will take the charge on towards enacting six points from both games.
The former Academica de Coimbra of Portugal star declared emphatically that the Eagles are fully motivated to get six points from the two games.
”Nobody wants to joke with this game or any game in the national team. This is like a big game for us, we need to win both games so as to qualify for the Nations Cup.
“We want to be in the Nations Cup come next year, so we are looking forward to the game, everyone is in good shape I guess.
“For me, I can’t wait to step out onto the pitch if I am given the chance. We are all looking forward to this game, it’s really going to be a big game for us,” Ogu concluded.
