Pinnick begs Victor Moses to return to the Super Eagles.

Date:

President of the Nigeria Football Federation Amaju Pinnick has revealed that he has set plans in motion to entice out of favor Chelsea star Victor Moses to return to the Super Eagles after he called time with the national team in 2018 after the World Cup in Russia.

Victor Moses retired from national team duties on the 15th of August 2018 stating issues’ concerning tending to his young family and concentrating on club football but Pinnick insists that it will be grossly inappropriate if his achievement for the Eagles goes uncelebrated.

The NFF boss said. “I believe he is someone that has paid his dues and he shouldn’t just leave Nigerian football unceremoniously. I talk to him every day and I make him understand that he can still return. Even if he says I’m begging him, I don’t mind. It is not as if we don’t have players but we need to encourage our players so that others will know that when they say I’m retiring they will know that we have them in mind. Some retire because of ego.”

Pinnick believes he can sway the Nigerian into returning to the fold as he is in the process of having a meeting with the 2013 AFCON winner. “He can’t just say he is going and we let him go just like that. I will be meeting with him and his agent soon at a round table and even if he wants to go, there must be a ceremony for him to go. Just like what England did to Wayne Rooney, so we must celebrate them at every point in time.”

The NFF president insists that after Victor Moses’ feat for the national team, it will only be ideal for him to be celebrated even if he decides not to return.
