Paris Saint-Germain’s (PSG) Sports Director, Luis Campos, has clarified that the club never made an official offer for Nigerian striker, Victor Osimhen, despite widespread speculation linking him to the Ligue 1 champions.
Prior to the current European season, Osimhen was rumored to be a potential replacement for Kylian Mbappe, who was expected to move to Real Madrid. However, Campos debunked those reports.
“PSG never made an offer to Napoli for Osimhen,” Campos revealed in an interview during the Thinking Football Summit.
Campos confirmed that PSG did evaluate Osimhen as an option but ultimately chose to focus on their current attacking lineup, which includes Gonçalo Ramos, Randal Kolo Muani, and Marco Asensio.
“Offer? No. We spoke about Osimhen. He was analysed and studied as a possibility for Paris Saint-Germain. Our conclusion was that we were very happy with Gonçalo Ramos, very happy with Randal Kolo Muani, and very happy with Marco Asensio.”
“It is natural that there is a great association with Victor Osimhen and me because I brought him from Charleroi to Lille. I have known him since he was 16. We have a good relationship. We respect each other a lot,” Campos added.
Osimhen has since made a loan move from Napoli to Turkish champions Galatasaray.
