Remo Stars Football Club (RSFC) have gotten their first win of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) season with a 2-0 triumph over Katsina United FC.
The Sky Blue Stars were taken away from their comfort zone, Gateway International Stadium, Sagamu to the Oshogbo Township Stadium in Osun State for three (3) home games.
Captain of the host team, Victor Mbaoma put Remo Stars ahead as early as the second minute.
Mbaoma blew up a chance to get an early brace, he connected well to Solomon John’s cross but couldn’t finish it up at the back of the net.
The hosts continued to build on the momentum, got larger share of the possession to distract the visitors but Nigeria International Goalkeeper, Ikechukwu Ezenwa was smart enough to deny Mbaoma’s attempt.
The visitors got their first opportunity through Remo Stars’ former striker, Eric Dufegha in the sixteenth minute, he took a long range shot and Ndah Olisa cleverly denied the goal bound chance.
Another opportunity came Mbaoma’s way, he received a lofty pass from Chidume Victor, but was denied by Ezenwa.
The second half resumed with immense pressure, the visitors came closer once again through Dufegha, he took a long range shot to get an equaliser for his side but Fabiyi Emmanuel saved brilliantly.
Solomon John, Ekene Awazie and Bolaji Michael exchanged wonderful pass to displace their markers to set up Mbaoma inside the opponents’ box, he took at once and the ball went over the bar.
The Sky Blue Stars continued to mount pressure on the visitors as all their attempt was seen blocked by Olisa, Edoka Owochio and Chidume Victor.
A 76th minute strike from Kingsley Akemini sealed the points for the Sky Blue Stars as they moved up second in the Group A table.
