Remo Stars put two goals past Osun United

Captain of Remo Stars, Shuji Oshobe and Solomon John inspired the Sky Blue Stars to a comfortable 2-0 victory over southwest rivals, Osun United in the final Nigeria National League Group B2 match played at the Gateway International Stadium on Sunday.

In a commanding performance in which Fatai Osho’s lads once demonstrated their unbeaten home credentials, Remo Stars handled their final home game with ease.

The Omoluabi Giants had the early opportunity to find the opening but Ndah Olisa brilliantly intercepted to deny them in the opening minutes.

The hosts got their first attempt when Mustapha Gbolahan dazzled with the ball inside the opponent’s box to locate Solomon John but Lateef Nurudeen saved to deny his early attempt.

Hammed Rasheed raised the hopes of the visitors after Sheriff Abubakar set him up to give his side the lead but the referee adjudged him to be in an offside position.

Captain of the Sky Blue Stars, Shuji Oshobe then gave the hostd the lead from the penalty spot, Solomon John was fouled inside the visitors’ box after he tried to calmly slot in for his side.

Few minutes later, Solomon John then recorded his name on the scoresheet after he reacted to a brilliant pass from Michael Bolaji to double the lead for the Sky Blue Stars.

The Omoluabi Giant had a chance to reduce the deficit through Olalere Hakeem but James Faith denied him with a beautiful save.

However in the second half, the Sky Blue Stars began to display themselves with beautiful passes to gain more possession of the ball. Ndah Olisa, Shuji Oshobe, Michael Bolaji and Edozie Ewelike enjoyed with the level of play at that time.

George James made an immediate impact with the ball, he tried his luck from distance but James Faith was active enough to save his effort.

Sunday Williams had the chance to get the third goal, his third in three games after Michael Bolaji set him up but he was quite unlucky with his attempt as it went narrowly wide.

With the victory, the Sky Blue Stars top Group B2 of the Nigeria National League with two (2) points after Unicem Rovers FC held Delta Force FC to a 2-2 draw at the Ogwashuiku Township Stadium in Asaba, Delta State.
