Rohr Acquires Video Tapes Of Seychelles’ Matches

Date:

Super Eagles technical adviser, Gernot Rohr has stepped up his efforts to get his team back to winning ways, as the Franco-German gaffer has acquired video tapes of matches played by his next opponents, Seychelles.

The Eagles will battle Seychelles away at the restart of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, and Rohr is eager to prevent a reoccurrence of the shock his side got in losing their first game of the series 2-0 at home against South Africa.

With memories of that match in Uyo returning to haunt him, following a disappointing early elimination from the World Cup in Russia, Rohr is now bent on hitting the ground running in the Eagles’ first match after the Mundial.

Consequently, a source close to the gaffer disclosed that Rohr has shifted focus fully to the AFCON 2019 qualifier against Seychelles.

Another factor in mind for Rohr is that the Eagles did not qualify for the 2015 and 2017 edition s of AFCON, after winning a third continental championship title in 2013, when late Stephen Okechukwu Keshi took the team to glory in South Africa.

The odds of reaching Cameroon 2019 are now daunting for Rohr, who signed a two-year contract extension with Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) just before the 2018 World Cup in Russia, and will have to justify his value from the word go in September.

Libya sit top of Group E with three points, following a 5-1 home win over Seychelles in their opening fixture, while South Africa are second in the standings, as Nigeria and their next opponents are both without a point.

Nonetheless, Rohr appears to have set his plans in motion for the next match against Seychelles on September 7, as he has procured video recordings of the opponents, with a view to knowing their strengths and weaknesses.

The credible source disclosed: “Rohr has taken delivery of Seychelles match video tapes. He is studying the tapes right now.

“He doesn’t want to leave anything to chance even though the fixture in Seychelles is still more than a month away”.
