Super Eagles coach, Gernot Rohr has disclosed that he will in Nigeria this weekend, before going for his summer holiday, in order to hold meetings with sports minister, Barrister Solomon Dalung and the technical committee of Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) over plans for the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
Rohr said he has already put behind him the Eagles’ ouster from the ongoing World Cup by Argentina, as he is now thinking of how to beat Libya and Seychelles in Nigeria’s next matches of the AFCON 2019 qualifiers in September, hence his desire to meet Dalung and the NFF egg heads.
Rohr stressed that has turned his attention to the qualification series for Cameroon 2019 and urged football lovers in Nigeria to follow suit.
He has also disclosed that he would be accompanying the team to Nigeria before the players depart for their respective destinations.
The Franco-German gaffer said his team did not perform badly before being ousted by Lionel Messi’s inspired Argentina, but wants preparations to start in earnest for the 2019 AFCON qualifying games.
“I am using this medium also to thank everyone for support and I will go back to monitor the World Cup.
“I am satisfied with the performance of my players in this World Cup and we have learnt a great deal of lessons from the competition.
“Before going back to my base I will have a short briefing with the Honourable Sports Minister and also Nigeria Football Federation to talk briefly on the plans for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations.
“Now we have to focus on the Africa Cup of Nations’ qualifying matches against Seychelles and Libya,” Rohr stated.
