Sadiq Umar scores in Italy, see’s red

Nigeria’s 2014 Rio Olympic bronze medalist Sadiq Umar was a hero and villain in Perugia’s 3 – 1 home win against Salernitana in the Italian Serie B on Sunday.

 

The lanky forward who is on loan to Perugia from Serie A side Roma was in the starting line up for the club and scored the team’s second goal in the 31st minute to extend the home side’s lead just three minutes after Valerio Verre put the home side ahead in the 28thminute. Tiago Casasola reduced the deficit for the visitors in the 35th minute.

The Nigerian international, a goal hero in the 31st minute became a villain as he received two quick yellow cards in two minutes. 53rdand 54th minute and was sent off putting pressure on the home side before substitute Han Kwang Sung restored a two-goal cushion for the home side in the 74th minute as they strolled home with all three points.

 

 

Umar will miss Perugia’s next home fixture against 6th placed Verona. The win takes Perugia to 7th on the Serie B log. Umar has scored two goals in his last two games for the Italian side.
