Salami Joins Musa, Akpala, Igboanike In Saudi Arabia

Date:

Former Super Eagles striker, Gbolahan Fuad Salami has become the fifth Nigerian player in quick succession to seal a deal in Saudi Arabia, as he links forces with Al Qaisoma FC on a short-term deal.

Footballlive.ng reports that the 27-year-old former youth international follows in the footsteps of Ahmed Musa, Kennedy Igboanike, Okiemute Odah and Joseph Akpala to beef up the Nigerian legion in Saudi Arabia.

The fiery forward, who has also played for Sunshine Stars of Akure, Shooting Stars of Ibadan, Warri Wolves of Delta State and two clubs in Finland, moves to the oil rich Middle East country from Kazakhstan.

Salami makes the move after a year with Irtysh Pavlodar, but he might be in for tough days at Al Qaisoma, as the club are just above relegation zone in the Saudi second division.

Salami will have to hit the ground running from the word go this week, as his team are 17th in the 20-club league, with 22 points from 20 ties.

They will certainly need Salami’s goals to escape relegation, as they are just a point ahead of Al Ain in the drop zone.
